I can relate with this very much, Angelika...

i often fail to recognise very much known faces in winter attire :)

The uncle who lives in the next lane-- a very old man--sometimes catches hold of me on the road and asks me with a very infectious laugh...'Are you older than this old man??" and we both have a good laugh...people on the road look at me a bit oddly....

your haiku brought all those moments live for a while, Angelika
